TAMARA A. JOHNSON-GEORGE

Tamara Antrice Johnson-George (TAJ), the youngest of 6, rose from poverty and a troubled youth to become a successful wife, mother, author, and entertainer.  Though primarily recognized as Taj, 1/3 of the multi-platinum selling R&B group - Sisters with Voices (SWV), Taj is quickly being recognized as a star in her own right.

It’s been eight years since the trio known to the music industry as Sisters with Voices (SWV) released their last album.  “Sometimes you need time to heal and refresh so that you can give your best “says Taj.  It’s no secret that SWV’s presence in the music industry helped to open doors for the many girl groups that followed them.

During their time apart Taj has definitely been busy!  Taj first relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting and there she also enrolled at Santa Monica College to work toward completing her degree.  Eventually, Taj planted her feet in Nashville, TN where she did complete her degree requirements and is now an alumna of Belmont University in Nashville where she earned a B.A. in Marketing.

Taj has been widely recognized for her work with the non-profit organization, Visions with Infinite Possibilities (VIP), which was founded by her husband.  “Our mission is to support and enlighten women and children of domestic abuse through fundraisers and various speaking engagements in hopes of encouraging others to join us as we create an environment of shelter and rebuilding”.  V.I.P. plans to visit several shelters across the nation as Tamara spearheads the “Sisters Inspiring Success – S.I.S.” Tour developed to uplift and inspire.

Taj has also added the title of published author to her resume’ as she recently published her first book, Player HateHer: Why Can’t Women Just Get Along? (Amistad/Harper Collins) which she co-wrote with her best friend, Katrina Chambers.  In the summer of 2004, Taj married her longtime boyfriend and former NFL running back, Eddie George.  The two were featured in their own reality show on TVOne, “I Married A Baller” which showcased her life in Nashville, TN as wife to Eddie George and mother to their son Eriq  and stepmother to his son Jaire.

Taj can currently be seen each week on CBS’ SURVIVOR.
